Screen your Ratings more Thoroughly...
I am a manager at a privatly owned complex who has been personally defamed in a rating that I have put in a request several times to be removed but have been overlooked. I feel that because it is stated in your user agreement that defamation is not allowed, it is imperative that you remove comments such as these immediately.
We have tools to obscure a name. Please report the review and our abuse team will investigate.

They'll remove the content. Reviewers shouldn't mention by name, but they have every right to call you out if you do terrible things to them. Take legal action instead fo whining about it on here

I agree. I have had 1 person write almost the same review and targeting me as the big problem and there is nothing we can do about it. They are saying that aour property is full of bugs, dog poop and i am the worst manager they have ever seen. It is the same person and we are on our 7th or 8th post. This is not fair to anyone. Something needs to be done!!!

I have been in this industry for over 6 years and I have had this same issue over and over and over again. I flag posts with our names in them and they never address the issue. Forget about the false allegations of evicted residents. It seams apartmentratings.com employees don't really care about the apartment community's employees, whom are doing the ground work which makes their job, their website possible.

Is it defamation or is that tenant expressing their opinion and experience with management. The reviews can be a jolt I am sure, if it is referring to your position but as well it can be a tool to help you correct the problems. You certainly have an option as a manager to post as the manager and explain your perspective and I am sure that if it is written without anger, that people will consider it fairly. Best not to write a fake review to offset it though because it's pretty obvious.

I went through the same thing, and it took a lot of effort to get it resolved.

I disagree everyone should tell their side...
mgr. & landlords do horrible things to tenants some times. they are aware many tenants don't know their legal rights -

No wonder the place is poorly run the MANAGER wants to blame everyone else rather than realize that their JOB is to coordinate EVERYONE so that the place is top notch!!, or educate the staff so they can perform top notch or dump the staff that brings the place down, oMG, what exactly does this manager think they are supposed to do?

Hear is another example of a manager crying!!!
This is why management companies should better screen and test complex managers. -

Perhaps if the managers did a better job, people wouldn't post negative feedback about them. One of the key elements in apartment living is the staff that runs the community. If they are not doing a good job, then that is fair game to be posted. Either shape up or get new employees.

Defaming comments are made about our staff frequently. Apartmentratings.com supposedly edits, but the resident immediately goes back into their posting and reedits, putting the defaming statements back in.

You should also remove references to their position because that is just as bad. Let residents say a place is badly run as opposed to saying the manager is doing a bad job or mentioning folks by name. They should not be allowed to speculate as to why a place is badly run or in bad shape and this is why. Sometimes,if a place seems to be badly run,it is not completely a manager's fault. They may have constraints on them placed by higher ups that make it impossible for them to do better. They may have employees that really do not do their best but just enough to get by. And,if you think it is always easy for a manager to pick out slackers, you are wrong. After all,how in the world can a manager decide that a maintenance tech is not doing enough when they do not even know half of what they are doing or how to do it? Sometimes even residents can do things that make a place bad and because so many are doing such things there is no way management can deal with or even identify all of them. There are a lot of reasons why conditions could be bad at an apartment complex and due to that no one should be able to just assign blame to anyone by name or position. They may not have the slightest idea what they are talking about. Why do I know all this? I am an employee at some of the very apartment buildings that have been badly rated here. I hope I am not supposed to pay like managers are required to pay to make comments here. Oh,and I find making managers pay while no one else has to pay to be completely unfair. It discourages them from defending themselves and their properties while allowing anyone and their brother to say bad things about places whether they be true or not. So unfair. Take care.
