It is a shame that your site allows focus on negative.
It is shameful that your site basically promotes negative and not positives. It is basically human nature to post negative issues than to praise when positive things are happening. There are blatant lies and discriminatiry statements made and your site allows and tolerates it. I am personally offended that you have allowed these nasty statements to remain and even make it to your website to be seen. YOu all should be ashamed of yourselves!!!
Here is a link to Manager Center so you can respond to reviews and manage your community information: https://www.apartmentratings.com/manager/register/userinfo
We don’t get involved in resident-management disputes.
However, we also have tools to help you cultivate reviews and reach your happy residents as well. We believe in a fully balanced view as that is highly informative to prospective residents.

I've written plenty of positive reviews for multiple apartments I've lived in. In fact the majority are positive. When I've written a more negative review, it was 100% warranted. Don't generalize everybody who uses this site. If there are apartments with many negative posts, believe me, there is a reason. How would you explain all of the apartments that have majority of positive reviews?

that is the worst post i've read on here. you're basically telling people to hide how they feel. there are some angry people here and i can't blame them. how would you feel if you locked into an agreement on a false premise and realize you're stuck for 1 yr or worse.
the ones concerned with this type of thing are the ones that received a bad reputation. look at angieslist.c@m. it's a shining example of the right way to share information about products and services.
people know they can go there and get accurate information, because companies stake their reputation on it.
no personal attacks here, just expressing my opinion. -

Are you serious? The owners of this site should be "ashamed" for letting people express truthful opinions and practice their right to free speech? So what do you suggest? That we censor negative comments for the sake of "fairness" because YOU don't like them? It's not the website's fault if people have more negative than positive things to say. It's not the moderators' job to be our nannies and dictate the level of "negativity" we're allowed to express. People shouldn't HAVE to post nice things if it's not true! Give me a break!!
(This post is so mind-blowingly ridiculous that I almost thought it was a joke.)

We read positive reviews for our complex and found out after moving in those couldn't have been further from the truth. How about giving us readers some factual info? If you want to move into dirty and roach ridden apartment, you can. I am sorry I believed what was written in these ratings.

If you think it's all negative, look at Emerald Pointe apartments in Rocklin. 100% positive.

There are plenty of positive reviews on this site. Some of them have even been written by renters!

What's a "discriminatiry statement"?
You obviously haven't bothered to peruse the site. There are plenty of positive comments. I wrote a lovely review about my current complex. Why? Because my manager is great and spends time taking care of this place and not whining on Uservoice.

OH my my I,ll bet this is one of them apartment managers.Well shes right shes offended why cause the truth hurts, these managers want everything in their favor.WELL cry your eyes out cause people are getting fedup being abused and pushed around by these bullies. Your site is the best keep up the great work.Sooner or later the residents will prevail,im sorry but when everyone say the same thing who,s not telling the truth you decide? And its time the justice system gets unbroken and starts backing the peoples rights.Contact your Representatives and demand a SB be put up so the people can vote on it.To change laws for the people not the management companies.

If you are "personally offended" by the reviews then your place must be a real pit. Slumlords like you should be ashamed of themselves.

This website is entitled: apartmentratings and this is the reason and sole focus of tenants being able to post, express and vent their experiences as a TENANT. Those who become defensive are more than likely guilty of placing many hard working, single or w/families in situations as such. I currently reside in an apartment complex a full year as of April 2011 and I simply love it! I've expressed just that as well as shared what I've said to the property manager and corporate office. I've also expressed my absolute horror and displeasure with the previous apartment complex in the hopes that my experience and honest opinion would give others a clear warning and seek other options available. So sit back and unsubscribe too ensure your peace of mind. Here we have the opportunity of "free speech" and to assist others "freely". I could take offense that you make the claim of promoting negativity and blatant lies - but that's your opinion and rightfully your stand...so be it....

Let me get this straight. Instead of trying to take the criticism constructively and fix the issues and eliminate the reasons for the complaints you would rather censor the complaints.
That's pretty lazy and probably why your properties are getting so many negative comments.

Once again we see a "anon" who wants to have the cake and eat it too. You cannot have it both ways, every complex listed on this site has it's share of positive and negative reviews.
If you cannot weather the negative reviews then i suspect you're getting more negative than positive, are you trying to say that every negative review is lying? i find this extremely hard to believe if you are.
Yes, it's true that some people out there will leave a negative review, but to claim that this site promotes negative reviews is not only unfair, it's simply not true. I may as well say that every positive review left on your site is a lie, i doubt anybody here would believe that assessment.
Lastly, i find it funny that people like 'anon' play the victim yet we never see a link to the place they're trying to defend. Are you that afraid to show to the rest of the community the reviews you've been given?

I do not believe this is completely true. Yes, some tenants have been evicted and trashed the apartments, but most tenants or former tenants who post here are good tenants, like me who pay are rent on time and are clean and quiet, but unfortunately have rented from the unfortunate slumlord. I havel ived in two apartments here andloved them. The one I am in now is totally opposite and horrid. This site is good, because it gives the real experience to prospective tenants.

I agree with the original poster. Staff in particular get a bad rep and I am not sure what people seem to be expecting of the staff. I don't work for a complex but the staff at my last 2 places have been amazing but yet still get a low rating. If they zealously enforce the rules such as parking violators, litterers, and bad pet owners then they are blamed for being mean and cold. If they don't stand outside all night and watch what everyone does, then they're blamed for being too permissive.
With being an "investment" of any corporation, there is the problem of corporate red tape and budget requests to do anything. It's not the leasing office staff's fault in many cases when something outside doesn't get fixed ASAP and it's not their fault when a maintenance worker is laid off and leaving them short staffed.

I DISAGREE COMPLETELY!!!!! Shame on you for not "respecting" others honest opinions and the fact that it is a great outlet for vocalizing problems. I've worked in the rental industry before, and you wouldn't believe how many regional managers and corporate offices side with a bad manager because they don't believe a tenant. It's also a great way to know what kind of problem are associated with that property, ie crime, little parking, loud neighbors, bad manager/staff or even how great a property can be. I've read some properties that have nothing but good ratings. It's common freaking sense to know that there are going to be a number of bad/false comments, but for the most part, don't let a few bad apples ruin the whole barrow. The false ones are usually easy to spot too. If you don't like them, post a comment to their post and call them out as a liar, but don't assume that because someone post something negative that it's a lie. Apartment Ratings has done a great service, and it's sad to hear people that take that contribution for granted.

I AGREE 100%! I couldn't have said it better myself! APartments good reputations are being ruined because of a few bad apple who HAVE NOT PAID RENT, parties, etc... They are just mad and want revenge. I mean, dont you think that if there was something wrong with an apartment building the city would shut them down? This is truly a terribly site where the truth is hidden by lies!
