housing association
I know this site focus on apartments but how about adding a option for rating a housing assocations? HOA often have too much power that they abuse it, and we are often powerless. I wish we could look up reviews on HOA before purchasing a townhome. I Googled for rating a HOA and came up with nothing. Maybe considering implementing rating system on HOAs?

Yes, another story. HOA posted a flyer asking us to park on the street so they can replace the driveways. It's illegal to park on the street overnight in our city without police's permission. They stated on the flyer they already contacted the police and was okay to park on the street on the specific date. So we parked on the street and got a ticket! We called HOA and they refused to pick up the phone so we went to the police station to show them the flyer. Police wasn't happy, made a copy of the flyer and was going to investigate. They did waived the ticket. Ugh...
HOA rating please, who will if you guys won't?

Another story, they tried to fine us for a burnt out light bulb outside of our garage door the DAY we closed on our home. Fortunately, after a phone call volleyball, they waived the fine. Who does that to a new neighbor!? Then they pointed out something from "welcome package" but we never received it... 8 years later, still no welcome package.
And once I called related to a crime that I've reported to the police, it was an emergency and phone rang and rang, had to call six times and this lady finally picked up the phone and she was so RUDE and told me off... for reporting a crime that I've witnessed within the housing area???
Yes, HOA rating please.

Here is our horror story to support this suggestion. Housing association hired two men to replace rotten wood panels in our area, and they removed a wood panels from the deck. We reported it a month after we noticed they didn't come back to replace it. HOA told us to call back next year. Uhh, ok then few months later we called to report bricks falling off the wall and they told us these guys quit and they're in process of hiring. Ok, fast forward... 6 years later they're telling us that Patios and Decks are NOT covered in monthly fee. ?????????? We do not own a deck, the deck with missing wood belongs to upstairs unit. And upstairs unit is a rental and we do not know the owner. Numbers of calls and emails, they refuse to answer. What are we supposed to do? We are leaning toward just install the wood ourselves and paint it, but this is unacceptable... absolutely powerless and there isn't any reviews or rating toward HOAs out there. We need to put customer power back above HOAs.
